Live interactive digital experience for Museum of Australian Democracy

Role: Digital Engagement Manager

Project manager, digital experience development, social media strategy

Project team: Digital, Engagement and Exhibition teams

The Enlighten festival at the Museum of Australian Democracy features large scale light projections, live performances and art installations for 20,000 visitors over 4 nights.

For 2026 we transformed the museum into the Department of Memories, a whimsical fictional government department that collects memories and invites visitors to share their own.

My team produced an interactive digital installation - the Office of Short Term Memory - a digital photo booth where portraits were projected up onto screens for only 10 minutes before they disappeared. Our goal was to encourage a sense of play and being in the moment, creating memories while letting go of self-consciousness.

We also created a retro AV department called the Office of Flashbacks featuring a stack of televisions playing looping clips of collected home videos. As visitors walked past they saw themselves featured on a screen in the middle of the stack. The goal of the installation was to create empathy and connection as visitors saw themselves as part of a collective group of memories.

We also had a video confessional with a prompt for visitors. The result was a delightful, charming and heartfelt series of stories, achievements and kind messages that were used as part of our social campaign to promote the event.
