Social media strategy for Museum of Australian Democracy

Social media strategy, content production, storyboarding, copywriting, video production approval and risk assessment.

Project team:
Senior Social Media Manager - Dominica Dzialowy, Senior Digital Content Producer - Ben Harb, Digital Curator - Campbell Rhodes, Curatorial, Interpretation and Engagement teams

I oversaw the content strategy and content production of the Museum of Australian Democracy's social channels, taking the Instagram channel from 7K to 18K in 2.5 years.

The museum is a historic building where Australia's first parliament sat and a contemporary museum about democracy. Growing an audience in these niche topics required a creative approach to expand the reach of the museum beyond our local visitors and to help make democracy engaging and accessible.

We did this by adopting trends and making them our own, sharing quirky stories about the building's history, providing fascinating 101 explainers about Australian politics and behind-the-scenes stories of the museum. We tapped talent across the organisation including curators, tour guides and collection specialists to feature in the videos.

Our goal was to provide content that was genuinely meaningful, entertaining and valuable to our audience in a time where trust in democracy has been threatened.
